IIRC installing Python prior to Gnumeric will satisfy the dangling dependencies as well.The problem is not with the app manager (since a command line invocation of apt-get doesn't fare any better) but rather with the current Gnumeric package, which fails to list all its dependencies.

I just tried this, but I still get the same error :-(

Specifically l:

1) installed python-runtime
2) selected gnumeric-plugins-extra

and got the cannot install error

Perhaps you did something else extra?
