I've tried using ubiboot but the .db files do not show up in Linux and trying the MALF fix gets stuck on Warning modified software.
I really have no clue on how to telnet into the device.
I don't want to flash mmc just yet in case that won't fix it and lose everything.

Please, can some one help me get my N9 working again?

A few suggestions, first, I would try this and enable R&D mode. That I believe will enable the device to boot, allowing you to investigate what is the real issue.

Next, if that fails, try to use N9/N950 rescue CD, which may be a bit more compliacted:

Hi nieldk,

Using sudo flasher --load -k vmlinuz-2.6.32.20112201-11.2-adaptation-n950-bootloader -n initrd.img-rescue-2.6.32.20112201-11.2-n950 --boot hangs on Warning message and I don't get-

* /dev/sdX1 with is MyDocs,
* /dev/sdX2 which is MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan root file system (rootfs),
* /dev/sdX3 which is the MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan home directory.

Using the ubiboot kernal I do get these partitions but cannot see .db files in home/user ?

My phone will boot into R&D mode but I have no keyboard and no wifi. With sim inserted it does allow me to make calls though.
All contacts & messages are blank. Trying to access notes I get a Calendar not working error.
