There is interesting study about energy consumption and saving in mobile devices with the example of Nokia N900. The goal of this work was to develop battery monitor for N900 - BattInfo application, which is quite interesting. App offers severeal information about battery state and prediction of estimated work time in different conditions, like standby, playing music, browsing, 3g call etc. Extra feature is nice desktop widget with battery percentage and estimated time-to-charge.
