Greetings,
I've been using N9 since 2013. Last week I tried to install goldendict, added some missing libs from http://maemo.org/ but apparently wasn't careful enough. Nokia Maps is broken, and goldendict still has unresolved deps.

What could be the best course of action? Any of these make sense or something else?

1. Do nothing. Forget goldendict (it's not meant for N9?), use qstardict (clunky but works), live w/o maps, enjoy the rest while it still works.

2. Run Ubuntu goldendict in Easy Debian (not too clumsy for the N9 screen?)

3. Repoint apt sources to one of those locations mentioned on http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=100215 in hopes it will fix the broken libs.

4. Flash and retry goldendict again but carefully? However most of the pages mentioned https://wiki.maemo.org/Flashing_N9 no longer work.

--- more details ---

MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan ver PR1.3 (40.2012.21-3_PR_006)

apt-get check:

goldendict:
Dépend: libogg0 (>= 1:1.1.3) mais 1.1.3-4+0m6 est installé
Dépend: libqt4-webkit (>= 4.5.0) mais il n'est pas installable

libqt4-maemo5:
Dépend: libqt4-gui (= 4.7.0~git20100909-0maemo1+0m5) mais 4.7.4~git20120327-0maemo1+0m8 est installé
Dépend: libqt4-dbus (= 4.7.0~git20100909-0maemo1+0m5) mais 4.7.4~git20120327-0maemo1+0m8 est installé

I couldn't find the git2012 version of libqt4-maemo5.

Istallation of libqt4-webkit_4.5.3-1maemo1_armel.deb complained about libqtwebkit4 2.2.0~git20110913-0maemo12+0m8, while libqtwebkit4_4.7.4~git20110517_armel.deb was rejected ("already installed").

Attempt to remove the current libqt4-gui and libqt4-dbus was rejected.

300 views and 0 replies... OK, I got it, N9 is too old.
I'll probably go with the UBports solution to install Ubuntu 16.04 Touch on a Nexus 5.

Sorry for missing this. And N9 is not too old but needs lots of massage to keep running in 2019 (obviously not all -browser,etc.- still working).

But your post missed some info
where did you get goldendicht from
what were your commands to check
and so on...

I found libqt4-gui for Harmattan on
https://coderus.openrepos.net/n9mirr...B0m8_armel.deb

But this is Harmattan and cannot be changed to another version without breaking the system.
So probably goldendict was built for Fremante/Maemo5? And needs fixed dependencies like 4.7.0 ...

So that explains a lot.

Nevertheless one can try to use it with broken dependencies (most probably there will not be a lot of updates )

P. S. : I got socat compiled for Maemo running on SFOS (without breaking dependencies but something similar )
