google: "viewport iphone meta"

Its a very known way to solve the iphone problems.. but kind of inverted. On the iphone you want website to be 320px (potraitmode) but on the N900 you want the website to display correct at its full (desktop) width.

Noticed a bug just now in latest Fennec / Mozilla Firefox..

If I surf to facebook.com loginscreen it looks wrong with the background. Then I surf to my own site maemosweden.com (which has a viewport metatag of 1110px). If I after this go back to facebook.com it remembers this setting and show the facebook site in 1110px width.. and it all looks very nice actually. However abit too wide. A setting of 1024px is probably more correct for facebook..

EDIT: Filed bug at Mozillas bugtracker: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=540084

If the css is broken it's not the browsers fault.

Well, if someone insists to have this enabled for every website - this is what Greasemonkey is about.

It might be that there is a broken css.. Alot of websites have this broken css though. I find it strange that facebook.com would have a broken login-page. But it sure could be so.. It seems this problems comes when you are using several divs and css backgrounds.

Those websites at csszengarden are pretty old now, have looked the same since I can remember doing website. Wikipedia says it started out 2001 and most of the designs there are fit to 800px width, probably because webdesigners still had to adjust for old monitors back then.. web has moved on abit now.

I never used Greasemonkey for very much more than to download streamed videos and such.. I believe alot of its scripts (especialy the performance tweaks) do fit as a default behaviour for a browser on a device like the Nokias internet tablets and N900. For this problem in this thread Greasemonkey is not the solution because I want all my websites to render correct for anyone. I have put tons of hours making them cross-browser-platform so I want a way to make them correct on all new 800x480px screens too..
