The Swedish Television website has a streaming function which is quite nice. Its called SVTplay (svtplay.se) and some streams/programs plays great and some don't. There is a flashbased player which is too slow but if you change setting to Windows Media Video most work very well.

I have pinpointed which works and which don't. If look at properties on them those that work end with .asx and those that don't work (format unsupported error) ends with .wmv.

Works:
http://media.svt.se/download/mcc/vis...AVLAN-PLAY.asx

Does not work:
http://geoip.api.qbrick.com/services...THE-100113.wmv

Anyone knows how I might get the .wmv ones to play aswell or knows anything about the problem..?

is there any detailed specifics on what of .wmv and windows media files are supported or could this be a bug report?

I am a little careful of posting a bug-report because my last was not liked.

There has been a bug report. Unfortunately it has been marked WONTFIX. https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8210

Yes, I added that bug after there was no reply to this thread. I think they belive that the flash version is a work around. However it is way to choppy to be usable..

I have the same problem. When you choose to play the media in the external media player instead of the flash player, you choose Windows media player, but get the default maemo player. Is there any way to make microb to belive that KMplayer is the default player?

The problem is @ qbrick.com. The video you want to watch is geo-blocked, and the n900 can't handle this. None of the geoblocked vids will work for you. I can't watch any of these from my main computer . I would suggest that all swedes would write angry e-mails to qbrick and svt. And don't forgett to mention that you are paying license fees to evil Radiotjänst...

Does an app for svtplay (like on the iphone) have to be official, or is it possible for a talanted tech to do one for him/herself?

No. The only thing that svt states is that you are not allowed to save the streams to your computer.

SVTPlay FAQ

But I think the statement of demands on the filetypes is a little bit amusing.

But have yous guys tried the mobile site?

When I try mobil.svtplay.se with live stream from the Olympics it tries to open the stream with the media player, but the media player says that it is a unsupported media format. When streaming ordinary shows from mobil.svtplay.se the quality is really really poor.
