I was worried about the lack of this function. However, I found this video on youtube that made me feel much better about using it daily as a business device.

This was the only thing I really liked about my Palm Pre.

Sorry, it just search in your contact list, it isn't universal search.

You are Correct. However, I didn't think the N900 had this function. Really, the Pre's Universal Search is limited to contacts only unless you are in the email application anyways.

Contact search is most important to me at this time. Hopefully, we will see email search added.

Why not add a Brainstorm entry to formalise a request and allow others to show support by voting for it? This is the simplest & quickest way to make it happen.

Hmm, since the N900 runs a tracker metadata indexing database, universal search doesn't appear to be too far away. It's just missing a frontend application for the user.

What would be really amazing would be to have Gnome-Do ported to Meamo.

I watched that youtube video, u think there will be an app eventually that will let me do those things with the onscreen keyboard instead of the hardware one? might come in handy when only 1 hand is available , driving etc.
