I really like Catorise, but there are several apps that are placed on wrong categories. I don't know if it's a Catorise issue, or the packages are declaring wrong sections.
Some of them are obvious, and some are "questionable". And we have very similar apps on different categories too.
I would be nice to have a common criteria, because with this situation is very difficult to find the apps (go to a category, "d'oh", back, go to the other...).
Can I help on any way with this?

Obvious:
* EasyPark on System (shouldn't be Location & navigation, or Utilities?)
* liqflow on Multimedia (Science? Games? Others?)

Broken families :
* Sketch on Graphics, MaePad on Office
* WifiEye on Network and WifiInfo on Utilities
* gTranslate on Education and qTranslate on Network
* VNC Viewer on Network, RDesktop on Others

"Questionable" (I understand if there are different opinions):
* Conky on Desktop (Yes, I nkow it is a desktop widget on desktop Linux. But not in Maemo... System?)
* Horizon on Graphics (Utilities? Location & navigation? Others?)
* Silencer on System (Utilities?)
* PackageView on Utilities (System?)
* Storage Usage on Utilities (System?)
* WifiInfo on Utilities (Network? System?)
* RDesktop on Others (Network?)
* BatteryGraph on Utilities (System?)

These are the ones that I can see with my instaled apps. Probably there are more.

Sorry if my english is not perfect. Not native english speaker

PS: and then there is the Ovi category, with apps of every category... hehe

Catorise gets its info from HAM so it's up to the packages to decide where to stand...

But it makes exceptions. One example are the the built-ins (Phone, Conversations, ..)

actually, HAM should only be regarded as a fallback... (although most probably for the most packages it is the source of information)

The Right Thing to do for application developers is to put freedesktop.org.compliant "Categories="-information into their *.desktop-files. Catorise reads this information.

you can manually edit the text and reassign category's.
go to /home/opt/catorise under root and edit the file called menu
Just look at the proper category names and replace the category in the text file for the app you want to move.
Doing that i moved things like Bounce out of Ovi into Games

Where can I see that EasyPark is categorized as System? On my N900 it shows up in Location & Navigation when I choose download in the application manager.

I'm not talking about the application manager. In the app manager EasyPark is on the right category.
I'm talking about the apps menu, modified using Catorise.
