FWIW, I bought 2 N800s through MobileCity. Very quick shipping and excellent exchange handling of a unit that had a bad display.

kingka, "near perfect web-browsing" is sooo subjective. It depends on the user's expectations and tolerance threshold.

Personally, I wish the web experience were zippier BUT I'm not gonna complain. I have a dual Opteron CPU, 4-gig beast of a workstation at home that chews through the toughest sites with ease. But guess what? It damn well had better given the specs!

Then I compare that monolithic monstrosity to the oh-so-small tablet in my hand that demands patience from some sites I frequent (ebay and CNN are the worst). Okay. Well, no dual 2 GHz CPUs... no 4 gig ram... no Directx10 video card... no gigabit LAN card... eh, makes sense to lower my expectations from the desktop to the palmtop, right?

I quite frankly don't understand why others struggle with this (not saying you).

near perfect = it wont crash when viewing sites.sites load slow, but not painfully slow, and supports flash on all sites.

if I wanted a laptop in tablet form. i'd get an OQO2. i just want something to MSN chat with (does gizmo support msn??), surf, watch vids and play a few emulated games on..

I experience rare, random crashes on my N800 using the beta MicroB and Opera browsers, but I'm usually pushing it when that happens (3 or more sites open, lot of activity, etc). I have so far encountered 2 site shutdowns (ebay and youtube) on the N810 running prerelease OS. I did have multiple apps open BUT along with that disclaimer I personally don't feel that *should* be an issue.

Unless I'm mistaken, Pidgin supports MSN today.

Not directly. I have heard you can use the jabber client, but I've had nothing but trouble with jabber and gave up on it long ago. I'm using Pidgin on the N800 for MSN but as far as I know there is no OS2008 client yet.
