OK, reported in garage project tracker
https://garage.maemo.org/tracker/ind...d=164&atid=681
and found a fix, see the URL, hopefully it seems to be configuration issue (if pcm2 is not needed for something else)

I tried building maemo mapper with debug enabled to investigate this, but the version i built never crashed!

So I rebuilt with debug back off and it keeps on working! Not a single crash so far (in about 2 weeks of usage) which is much better than on the same version of MM on 2006! On 2006 I used to get a crash on pretty much every long journey I took.

So yet another reason 2007on770 is much better than 2006 for me!

Thank you for that tip to get sdl pcm working. It is as follows:

As root, edit /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf and replace both occurrences of "pcm3" by "pcm2".

The only other problem i've found so far is that my Thinkoutside Stowaway BT keyboard refuses to pair with it.

I open control panel -> bluetooth

I select "New". "Select a device" panel comes up.

I hold down CTRL-FN-FN a couple of seconds and it finds Think Outside Keyboard.

I click on the think Outside Keyboard item in the 'Select a device' list

"Pair with device" menu comes up and gives a code to enter, and trusted device is checked

I click OK

'Pairing' status window comes up.

I enter the 4-Digit code number and wait: in various tries I get either an error "Pairing failed. Device resources exceeded. Try again? or Authentication failed.

(edit) just tried it again and found i have to hit the Enter (Return) key after entering the code number. Sheesh PBCAK

------

The UI is so much slicker. From an audio designer standpoint the clicking sound when you touch the screen is a sharp sound like hitting a nice hard crystal, instead of a piece of cardboard. Funny how these associations colour the feel of the device. Also the dark theme is way cool. Loving it

I'm getting the "Illegal instruction" on connecting to the gps. Does anyone have any more insight on this? If the version of MM you built works, can I try a copy of it?

Thanks!

Thanks! Yours works for me too. Now we have to guess what's different between your setup and gnuite's (or convince gnuite to make the switch to hacker edition)

I tried both the official maemo-mapper and the smuckles version, but have hit a dependency problem: reportedly, libosso-help0 >=2.0.8 is needed. Any clue ? Thanks

I had this problem too. If I remember correctly, I solved it by adding a bunch of repositories. I'm not sure which one provided the needed package. My /etc/apt/sources.list is:

Code:
#maemo:name Nokia Catalogue
#maemo:essential
##deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified/ bora user

#maemo:name Nokia Catalogue (3rd party software)
deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/non-certified/ bora user

#maemo:name Kernelconcepts.de
deb http://downloads.kernelconcepts.de/maemo3 bora free

#maemo:name Maemo.org extras-bora
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ bora free non-free

#maemo:name Maemo.org
deb http://repository.maemo.org bora free non-free extras

#maemo:name Maemo Hackers

#maemo:name Contrib

#maemo:name MUlliNER.ORG Maemo Software (Maemo 3.x)

OK- I can't seem to make radio streaming work on OS2007 HE for N770.

I installed X-Term, and issue the following command:
gconftool-2 --set /apps/osso/osso_media_server/demux_audio/a
pplication_x-icy --type list --list-type string
'[application/x-icy,icydemux]'

...that gives multiple errors, so I try to break it up:

gconftool-2
...works

set /apps/osso/osso_media_server/demux_audio/a
pplication_x-icy
...works

but then the "type list" command gives an error,
and I still get a "file format not supported" error when trying to stream radio.

Any help would be appreciated...I can't be the only one who has failed to make this little hack work, can I?
