Hello,

I would like to know how to unzip .zip files on an N810 with OS2008.

May there is some applicatin which does this or maybe some xterm commands.

I read and other people have unzipped files using xterm but they are saying you need a filename?

You you use a path or do you just enter the filename regardless of locatio.

Thank you very much.

Hello:
Try these steps:

1) grab and install http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/unzip/
2) place zip file in a temp dir (i.e. /media/mmc1/zipjunk)
3) open xterm window and change to temp dir (i.e. cd /media/mmc1/zipjunk)
4) type unzip *.zip (if you want you can also type 2 or 3 characters of the file name and tap the tab key and it should auto-magicly complete the horribly long file name that the zip archiver chose to use)
5) use file manager to move unzipped files to where you want them

This is a quick and dirty way to accomplish unzipping for more ideas try typing unzip at the prompt in xterm and it will provide you with other options for dealing with those pesky files

Have fun

Easier:
1) Step 1 of n9ots instrctions.
2) Open the filemanager and change to the directory where is the zip file.
3) Tap in the zip file, it will be unzipped.

Didn't know that it worked in file manager (I'm still using os2006 where it is very hit or miss for filemanager to work with zips)

Have fun

Just get Squishee, it's one of my all time favorite applications. Zip, tar, bz2, 7z, whatever, and it associates the mime types so that you can select "open" instead of "save" from the browser. It's in the Garage.
