I am working on a Swype-style keyboard for the N900. I have it generally working as in I can swipe words and it creates results, but now I have reached a problem: How do I make it communicate with the operating system - to be called when a vkbd is needed and to send text to applications? Any ideas?

This is awesome, thank you so much.

I'm no programmer but i'll try to help. There's several other threads in here about virtual keyboards, I think you might find somethings in the discussions there.

Those are all written in C however, and I don't know how to make a bridge between C and Python. But thanks anyway!

Not much. I have a runnable demo (at least, it's running on a linux PC - still trying to buy a replacement N900), but it only generates in-application results; I haven't managed to make it talk to X yet, much less hildon. Also I am now working on a word ranking system, as right now it does not rank the words: if you swype "prod", "pod" will be the first result because it just goes alphabetically, even though you did go all the way to the R.
