Every once in a while the following occurrs: I check my battery, and it is more than half full, according to the icon. And then, without using it or having an application open, I check again an hour later, or are warned by the chime, and it is empty. What could cause that behaviour, and can I fix it?

I often have the same problem. I only get five or six hours' battery life in any case...

I did, but though there are many battery-connected messages, nobody mentioned a sudden decrease.
