I was reading an article and it says that intel's redhat based and Nokia debian based don't get along, similar to KDE and GNOME users so what's going to happen to meego?

Will it based on the lovely Debian that does everything? or Redhat? Some are saying that the UI will be kept from maemo (Debian) but the underlining will all be red hat which means the debain people on Nokia side will leave and visa versa.

The two sides have all have similar arguments about why they prefer their choice so I was wondering what will happen now will a compromise be made or will one win and the other will leave?

You have to take a look at the meego developers list (search for it in the http://meego.com site).

Actually, it is not based on either. It is/will be a new distribution. It will use the RPM package manager. Some bits and chunks from Fedora were "borrowed", too.

As it stands now, I think there have been no more arguments because of this.

it has already been decided, there is no continuing debate. the rpm package format will be used, as will the SUSE open build service and zypper, which is an apt-like package management system for rpm format packages.

Do we know if the debate died due to acceptance, or resignation?

At least from my perspective.. the latter . As was said.. it's already decided.. no point arguing with a wall.

The relevant word, I guess, is "compromise" :-)

You won't have SuSE on your Nokia. You'll have MeeGo. The only similarity will be the package management system.
