Not bewildering as there were no updates on modest since long time
Besides the gmail problem (solved by freemangordon) and SSL/TLS (by foobar).
And still I see it as one of the best mobile mail clients!
BTW.: I stopped my fakepop service and modest is running fine, no complaints. So it seems we need socat only running during setup.
And with your approach I see it as having multiple account (identities)!

A question on TJC

brought me to remember this one here. And I tested around with this binary compiled for Maemo and got it running on SFOS. Furthermore I needed to understand PostOfficeProtocol and the connection sequence of the SFOS mail client (qt messaging framework). But then I got it and could set up fake/alias/multiple identity accounts (which will never sync the inbox).
I attach three zips. Extract with
then run the provided script with

Do not use this approach on SFOS >= 3.1. Or you will find yourself in trouble (no glibc found anymore
). Resolvable via recovery shell only.

I am using the N900 since around that first post date, no knowing this hack/solution.
And I do use the multiple account approach (with receiving mails -the same- ping me a few times
Now I just set up this method and it is unbelievable.
