how come the gps can hardly ever lock on its crap on n900

Mine locks onto satellites (needs a network connection for a quick fix), not onto its crap.

I find mine locks on well when outdoors. I have used it both in the city, and in the countryside. Indoors, it does take a while to get a lock. When using A-GPS, I changed the server to supl.google.com, which seemed to improve things. Also using the MicroB geolocation extension for Google Maps, Maep, etc. works really well.

No solution because Quim spent a long time demonstrating that there was no problem.

If you were having trouble in Nokia Maps, check out Ovi Maps gives up finding GPS lock too soon, which is fixed.

If you had a different problem - what was it?

I have no problem with the gps since i used the cleargpscache utility.

I got it to work !
Oh, if I'm not the first to present the solution, please just ignore my sorry ***.
Edit : damn, ignore it good, it seems to be a well known tip...

- Install GPSJinni

- Keep GPSJinni running and launch Ovi Maps.

Can't be that bad to repeat a bit though.
