I'm not sure quite how useful this is going to be, but I was able to install and run Windows 3.1 under DOSBOX on my N810.

I would like to try that out. Do you have a link with any instructions? I have a N800 running diablo from my sd card.
Thanks

Yeah, I'm also interested in how you did it. How well does it run? I used to run Windows 3.0 on my 1 meg 286 with acceptable results, so I guess the N810 copes quite well?

I think I need to play with DOSBox and resurrect some of my favourite DOS games

This brings back memories of DOSBox on the N810. There was a huge thread on this a while back. Its even possible to install windows 95! No joke, though it takes about 15 mins to boot up (if you are lucky and it does boot), and runs at like 1 mph. But then you find there are mouse issues, etc. The coolest part of my setup was that the windows 95 image was on my USB stick with host mode.

@supergadgetman Instructions for running Win 3.1 in DosBox are all over the internet. Just google for it, its the same for any linux installation. But just to save your sanity, I highly suggest you install it on your computer and move the image on the tablet.

There was a thread a while back about running DOSBOX on your N810. This is one of them: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ead.php?t=5686 and also this one: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...d.php?p=192119. It looks like these threads deal with gaming, but it does tell you how to install DOSBOX.

I took an old Windows 3.1 disk and copied the installation files to my SD card. I ran the SETUP.EXE utility and had it install to D:\WINDOWS.

Once that installed I just open DOSBOX, cd into my WINDOWS directory, and run "win.com".

I don't see how to control the mouse pointer. The stylus really doesn't seem to control it. This could be a setting under DOSBOX I just haven't had time to figure it out.

Someone mentioned games. I installed a bunch of my old Sierra On-Line games (King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, etc.) and they all work reasonably well under DOSBOX.

Do these instructions help? I didn't write up anything formal, but if there's enough interest I will.

The trouble is in finding a copy of Windows 3.1(1) to install. It's relatively easy to find the disk images - but that's just a lot of faff to install it for - at best - a nice hack.

What I've not yet been able to find is a zip file containing a DOS disk ready to be unzipped and run in DOSBox or similar containing any of the interesting, but ancient, OSes (GEM'd be interesting too).
