Qt confirmed today that qt5. 12 due in December will be an lts release.

Probably makes more sense to move to that version sometime in 2019, than worry about moving the current lts release this year, which is 5.9.

Since that post above we've had the marketing blurb for Sailfish 3 arrive, promising a new QT.

Since 5.12 LTS won't arrive until December, I can only presume that Sailfish 3 will use the exisitng LTS release which is 5.9.

What is the situation regarding Jolla and recent version of Qt with 5.10+ being (L)GPL-3 licensed?

In any case it would be definitely a positive trend if Jolla just started regularly tracking the LTS release. Should make it easier for developers to support Sailfish OS in multi-platform apps and would keep the Qt API side reasonably up to date.
