How did you make get_iplayer to work? I tried it and it wants Env.pm, etc. modules that maemo Perl port doesn't have...?

Thanks.

ah, I should have clarified - I do all this on my main computer, using the tablet only for playback.

I hacked up a web interface to get_iplayer which makes it easy for my wife to use; it runs on my fileserver's web interface as a perl CGI; files are then played over SMB shares on PC or Xbox (original, chipped, with XBMC), or by copying to tablet using ssh or tablet accessing file server's downloaded file space over web.

if you have an N96, these URLs work:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/live/radio/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/live/tv/

if you have an N95 or N97, the web page denies access, but if you happen to know the stream URLs you *can* play them, they are in the form
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/live/sdp/bbc1_mpeg4.sdp

I'll try and find out. I guess the person who told me spoofed the user agent somehow.

I posted a suggestion to the BBC's iplayer forum/suggestion and it was closed without comment:
