I'm curious if any U.S.-based users of Sailfish X received the presidential alert text message yesterday. With phones all around me going off, mine did not. Nor did my wife's or son's who also use Sailfish X. We have T-Mobile service.

I rather felt like it was a nice privacy thing and it was great to explain to everyone that I have a different, independent phone O/S than everyone else around me who received that text and couldn't opt out of it. I question, however, whether I am technically accurate in my on-the-spot assertion that it's because I have Sailfish on my phone that I didn't receive the text. That is why I pose the question here.

That may very well be an open TODO with ofono, seems not all modems are patched to work with CMAS in ofono code

I have AT& T and I did not receive the alert, rather happy about that

That being said it probably would be a good thing for local alerts as they do send flood warnings and others on an opt-in basis.

Trumps Twitter or what does he broadcast on the channel? I think it’s more likely to get a message from Putin. Sailfish is Russian and not independent.

So the question is:
what 'important' text did you miss?

Are these messages not just plain old 'cell broadcast' messages?
Symbian and Nokias S40 had that (also my Siemens) but it was not really used/supported by German providers...

see the link from wolke in other thread

in addition to now allowing the president of the united states of america to send dic pics, it also sends out Amber Alerts (for missing children)

anyone know anything about WEA? it would be nice to have on SFOS. probably.

Was wondering. While you didn't get the presidential alert, do you get Amber alerts? For those that do not know, it is used in all 50 states of US to alert folks about possible abduction of children. Maybe something equivalent in Europe and elsewhere?

Xperia X, latest official, T-Mobile US (prepaid). I did not receive the notification, and I was rather disappointed. I had been awaiting the message since I heard about it!

On Sailfish? How, exactly? Nobody else has gotten the messages as far as I can tell. It seems to be a limit of ofono. How did you get around said limitation?
