All the NITDroid users out there!!! All the giants who have made this work, all the giants who know the secrets of Linux commands, please please help this desperate soul:

I want to install NITDroid (primarily to show off to my friends the power of N900).

But for some strange reason, the "mount" command simply doesnt work. i.e. I am not able to mount at all!

Example:
1. mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and - mounting /dev/mmcblk1p2 on /and failed : Invalid argument

2. Using auto installer failed with the following line:
Mounting /dev/mmcblk1p2 ...FAILURE. Bailing out.

3. mount /home /and - does nothing.

All the geniuses here, who got this to work on their machine, please help me! There are many like me facing this problem, and would be of great help to all of them.

Other links, where I found no answer:

Seeing as you've had a lengthy discussion with ammyt re. your question in one of the duplicate posts you've made, I'm wondering why you've created yet another?

Uh, do you have a SD card?
If not, just copy all the files to /home, mount -obind /home /and and dpkg-i nitdroid-kernel, then edit /etc/multiboot.d/11-Nitdroid to point to {INT_CARD}p2 instead of EXT_CARD.

Well, ultimately my question was not solved in that thread. also for obvious reasons the overall purpose of the discussion tilted more to the N11 which released recently.

i wanted a solution to my problem as with each passing day, i am seething with green envy towards those who managed to install this....

thanks for the post Hurrian, will try this right away

Still no breakthrough!!!

when i finally use dpkg

It says "android not mounted on /and"

Either my tar file is corrupt

or the mount!

yeah around 1GB left for applications.
The entire memory card is free.
And the emmc has 19 GB free....

I am sticking to solving this so hard, as it evades my logic... really am not sniff by myself what went wrong...
