Every day as
-phone
-ghettoblaster (fmtx)
-camera (bless900),
-notes (leafpad)
-games (xterm + bash and python scripting)
-encyclopedia + dict (evopedia)
-music + audiobooks (openmediaplayer)
-podcast (gpodder + mediaplayer)
-protection from bureaucracy + entreprises lies (recaller)
-calculator
-converter (gonvert)
-mail while away (stock mail)
-browser when very very far away (microb, opera)
-radio
-calendar with colors modified to be more readable
-notes widget
-alarm clock (stock)
-countdown timer (countdown timer and tickstill)

I like much
-hamster filer as filebrowser
-apt-get and sometimes FAM as app manager

Never got to work:
-fmms (at all)
-mobilehotspot (not flawlessly)

Encrypted partition auto-mounted at boot above /home/user.
Default boot into the normal /home/user if no password is entered at the beginning of boot, when the blue led lits for 2 seconds.
Encrypted but connected...well, you know... technique sometimes lives for technique...

swap (not encrypted) on sd.

Backupmenu and auto.rsync from the PC

Cloned to a spare n900 with automatic wifi update

I Would change to Pro1 with Leste or SFOS. But: do I really need it? Have to try SFOS first.

I would advise you to begin with the reading of https://wiki.maemo.org/CSSU, and use backupmenu to when your installation is satisfying.

with fmms I always forget to put up somewhere the configs and then I have to search the web to find out the right ones for my operator which isn't that easy to find. Have now again working fmms but I do not suggest to use it. People sending so big images or vids which then freezes your device.

Swap on sdcard is something I have thought or as well as repartitioning to get a bigger root and cloning emmc to sdcard - all things I have come across on TMO but which I have not yet dared to try.

You use openmediaplayer for podcasts. So you download them from somewhere or what?

Sorry, my mistake, post corrected:
-music + audiobooks (openmediaplayer)
-podcast (gpodder + mediaplayer)

And I was forgetting :
Purgatory DJ for random music listening and sorting.

[QUOTE=manojkumaru;1564359]Well, joining the party very late. I am like back from my coma. I would love to set up my n900 back to where it used to be, but not sure where to start. Should I flash mine and set it up from the start? Are there working repos that I can use? {/quote]

While the nokia repos are gone, yes, there are mirrors of the original repositories. You can find a list here:

https://wiki.maemo.org/Repository#Li...o_repositories

I won't be using this as my main phone (battery is poor), but definitely as a second phone on me always.
Batteries are easily had and inexpensive on ebay. Not sure if they are "genuine".

I would like to have Maemo alongside a kubuntu build with multiboot/bootmenu/u-boot ( not sure which one I used to have ). Also, would love to try Maemo Leste - latest debian + hildon-desktop - would be fun

Any leads where I shall start? Oh, and any genuine batteries available online (deliverable to India)? I can't find the difference between a fake and a genuine one.
I just heard about Maemo Leste in this thread. I will be looking into it.

Sadly it's no longer may main phone since mid-May, because the modem broke. However, I still carry it with me everywhere - all my media is on it (after 10 years of operation) :-)

Well I'm 12 years older (as is my eyesight) and that means so is the N900 and its a little impractical for me to use for my job, but it still works, I get it out and use it sometimes and I still think its one of my favourite devices ever. Nothing else has ever been as interesting to use or as open, which honestly is slightly depressing.
