hi,

to begin with - I am a *****. My MPlayer worked perfectly for ages, and today, I decided to upgrade it.

for me, the "upgrade process consists of two commands:
apt-get remove mplayer
apt-get install mplayer. sounds simple. however, at the second command, I got:

"The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mplayer: Depends: libfreetype6 (>= 2.3.5) but 2.2.1-1osso3 is to be installed
Depends: libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.12.12-1osso10) but 2.12.12-1osso9 is to b
e installed
Depends: libhildonfm2 (>= 1:2.0.5) but 1:1.9.49 is to be installed
Depends: libosso1 (>= 2.16) but 2.13-1.1fix is to be installed
E: Broken packages"

suggestions?

Erm, why the hell do you start out by removing it? Why not just making things simple and upgrade it from Application manager? :\

As a side note, it's useful to provide all the information you can when asking for help. Don't just assume the people trying to help you can guess about it.

What version of Maemo are you running (exact version, please)? What does your repository catalog look like?

my application catalogue is identical to the gronmayer.com/it contents.

can you suggest me how to get the previous version at least?

maemo chinook 51-3 (forgot to mention)

but I thought that there are no crucial differences between chinook and diablo, and all the software written for one worked on the other.

as for the n800/n810, there should be no differences on the software level.

am I out of luck? (and stuck without any video playback for all those movies I watch to pass time in the bus)?

I am also thinking... where could I obtain an older version of mplayer (or a .deb for it), so I can install it with a better probability of working?

alternate solution: is is possible to create a .deb from an already installed package ? (on my other boot, I have the previous version of mplayer.... wondering if I can restore it)

edit: problem solved:
