I was afraid it might be but it was news to me as I have not been here in a while - waiting for Nokia to get some new product out and looking at UMPC's.
Here is the HP link as it is available now

Price HP wants may be a clue as to what to expect for pricing for the 870 when it comes out next year.

"HP makes next 770?"

With a 320x240 screen?

Wash your mouth out, young fella!

The most amazing design decision Nokia made when creating the 770 was to include the huge 800x480 screen. Any device that has a lower resolution is just a mere toy and not worthy of comparison!

I would expect the 870 to be priced similarly to the existing 770, with the latter being reduced/discontinued on launch. Again, I don't think you can compare the Nokia 770/870 pricing to an HP device - HP charge far more for less, partly because they have to factor in the cost of the OS and bundled apps.

to quote users on slashdot.org "but does it run linux?" nope, it's windows mobile, which means a lot of crashes, at least $100 of the device is the cost of the
OS and it's a resource hog. Linux is a much better answer for a handheld as it can
do the same thing with less ram and a smaller processor than windows.

At least one of those devices come with a 2.5" screen. Useless, if you ask me. Can't possibly be meant as any kind of internet tablet.

You need to look closer: 320 x 240
