I would think HTC & Shuttleworth have had a chat (or two).

I think Nokia and jolla is more likely than hrc jolla.

Nokia belongs to Microsoft. It *is* Microsoft. Why would they release any free OS?

I think HTC is not big enough at that point for their own OS. It had 5.8% market share in 2012 and revenue of under $10bn. They also made losses.

I suspect they picked an existing Linux-based OS.
