Bug #1695 has been opened to request tabbed browsing in the Mozilla browser, however it appears Nokia management decided against the inclusion of tabs in the current beta release.

Vote now to change their mind and have tabbed browsing added to a future (hopefully the next!) release!!

It's not really a Mozilla feature, and more one of the browser UI framework (see the architecture diagram on http://browser.garage.maemo.org/).

However, it'd still be a really useful feature. :-)

I wouldn't mind tabs. Can't see why that would create an Hildon problems, for example - it's still only one display at the time.

I think the screen is too small for tabs. What's wrong with pressing the "home" key to switch between windows, which is essentially the same functionality as tabs.

I'd vote for tabs. Yeah you can press the home key, but that's not always the best option. Tabs is much better.

I have never understood the tabs thing and I think in the Nokia it makes little sense.

I think the key lies in whether you use the hardware keys or stylus to browse. If you use the hardware keys tabs make little sense, but I use a stylus 9 times out of ten and so therefore its just more convenient to use tabs to switch windows. Minimo has shown that it doesn't negatively affect screen real estate.

Note that the bug has now been reopened: part of the original closure was due to it being misplaced in the Mozilla category.
