Ya. When I last updated I was having the same problem, until I rebooted. I didn't try rebooting because I think the previous updates worked right away.

from what i can tell, hildon-desktop is able to load, but not unload, applets or tray icons dynamically.

i have seen the desktop system go nuts over a applet thats no longer on-screen before so...

Well, I managed to have some free time, so there will be no 0.2.28...

0.3.0:
- FIXED: Settings writing.
- ADDED: Confirmation dialog for reboot and shutdown.
- ADDED: Translations (Russian).
- ADDED: Theme supporting.
- ADDED: Farenheit/Celsius temperature support.
- ADDED: Turning sounds on/off.
- UPDATED: "Power management" is renamed to "Device mode".
- ADDED: "Lock screen and keys" to "Device mode"

P.S. Don't forget to reboot.

After the SSE (or if it fails and you have to reflash and restore) to 5.2008, the dependency needs to be python2.5-dbus. You might want to do "python-dbus | python2.5-dbus" (I have something similar in my minigpsd - it may be a double-bar, i.e. || instead of |).

Fresh install (no previous versions) on my N800 running latest SSU fails with missing dependencies :
python2.5-hildondesktop
hildon-desktop-python-loader

I got the same in the same conditions.
But with extras enabled, I just did as root :
Code:
dpkg -i /var/tmp/advanced-power-0.3.0-3_all.deb ; apt-get -f install
