I'm trying to spice up a blog post I'm about to write with faint memories from earlier days (à la "this is not the first time such a close collaboration happens..."), but I can't find my faint memories.

IIRC, in the past there were one or two solutions/patches/ideas that or came from community members but were eventually adopted by Nokia as part of the Maemo system. I'm almost sure I read about this in bugzilla or here in the forum... but I cannot remember at all what projects and how and which version of Maemo it was etc.

Anybody with a younger brain help me?
It would be enough to throw parts of your faint memories at me, maybe if I just get together enough keywords I can actually start to search.

Jaffa's patch to Hildon Application Manager replacing the long list of category buttons with a proper grid view was included in Diablo if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately, they did not include our patch to remove the legalese when installing something... I wonder why.

not sure... there's no grid on my n810, just a list of buttons with category names.

Indeed, however it was in Maemo 5's 1.2009.42-11. They just never released an update to HAM after my patch.

Oh - one of the things they fixed in Diablo but never released for that platform. Interesting to know.

So it does count, too. Thank you. Guess that's what I need then, shouldn't be more than a side note.

WiFi memory corruption (bug #2006) - fix and patch provided by the community, don't think it was ever released by Nokia though.

There was another HAM patch by me which was merged (and, AFAICT, shipped) of no benefit to Maemo, but lots of benefit to Mer (i.e. it removed a whole lot of /home/user hardcoding).

Merging something which doesn't even benefit your own product, for Nokia, is impressive.

I'd like to point you to a great place for getting patches accepted. If you can reduce a developer's work in adding a patch, the better - Do it through maemo.gitorious.org 's merge requests.

Lately, javispedro's patch for inverted colors was added:

And my patch for ARMv4t support/non-VFP support(!) in libosso: http://maemo.gitorious.org/fremantle..._requests/2249
