It seems that Android's most popular emulators have been stripped from the market:

http://lifehacker.com/5806889/androi...ed-from-market

It looks as if you'll have to get the APKs from a different location.

But the real downer is that it will be hard to charge money for emulator support now that the market is gone, which means a slower rate of development to add to much lower visability.

Bummer.

They were pulled in the most part because the douchebag who has been using GPL code and not contributing back to the source AND charging for them refused to do whats right.

I strongly doubt that was the only reason.

I can't see emulators being used legally most of the time, and I would guess (and it would only be a wild guess), that Google would want game publishers to see the market as a developer friendly place, and not a hotbed of piracy -- this sort of thing would keep game publishers away, and hurt relations with Sony/Nintendo/etc.

In any case, for those that want emulators, you'll have to go 'underground'.

The Asus MeMO pad has been officially unveiled, and it's a VERY interesting device:

Get this:
7" screen
A whopping 1280x800 res
Glasses-free IPS 3D screen
Built in capacitive stylus
10 hours of claimed battery life
5MP shooter on back
Companion phone handset for making/taking calls!

This is such a well positioned product! For 7" Tab fans, this is a hard device not to take seriously. Especially considering that ASUS is good with the updates.

Lets hope that the SoC is great. It could be of Tegra fare, but the reviewer mentioned that it may be Qualcomm MSM8xxx.
i like the presentation.......very funny....

It's nice to see a chairperson (the presenter) that has such a sense of humor! I agree, I chuckled more than a few times.

Oh, I like this. SanDisk is rolling out faster mini SSDs with mSATA interfaces:

If more manufacturers opt not to solder the devices memory to the mainboard, we may see tablets with swappable drives!

GSM Arena has just gotten its hands on the Galaxy Tab 8.9!

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gala...-news-2709.php

One cool new tidbit about the tablet, is that it still handles GSM calls!

This is not terribly surprising as the Samsung Stick (a bluetooth handset) has been officially announced to work with the device. It is nice however, that calls will not be restricted to VoIP for those that still call using standard telephony.

There are more pictures at the link, but it seems like a great size.

According to the article, the GSM review will be coming out shortly!

I'm sure the US carriers will make sure to cripple these the way they crippled the 7-inch Tab when it came here. Arseholes.

True, true.. However, the custom Rom scene for Honeycomb just got started in a major way, and I'm sure this functionality can be re-enabled.

We always have VoIP, good incentive to try it out...

It can make phone calls... so I don't need to tether it... so I can ditch my phone if I wanted to.... Cool Beans!

Also check the comparison between 8.9 vs 10 vs iPad2. Seems like the only thing the iPad2 has going for it is the ~70,000 iPad Apps and the low-quality (250,000) iPhone Apps. http://blog.gsmarena.com/apple-ipad-...alaxy-tab-8-9/

It's a well-rounded tablet, if it comes in a Tegra2 package at afforable pricing I'm seriously considering it. And better yet if another model comes out with an active digitizer (N-Trig) and a transformer dock then "f*ck yea"
