for disabling rotation of Task Switcher, Launcher and desktop
gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/ui_can_rotate -t bool false
for disabling rotation of desktop alone
gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/desktop_orientation_lock -t bool true
PS:if u dont want your desktop to rotate u can use "CSSU STABLE" cssu does'nt consume battery but rientation lock does..

New to using X-terminal. How would I revert (cancel) these commands if I try them? Which one would leave the phone and contacts apps to rotate as before CSSU update?

Hello, Please the command did not change anything on my phone. Desktop still rotates after I did a reboot. Do I need to connect to the Internet? Do I need to be root?
Thanks

The CSSU rotation is nice for sure but it really eats CPU and precious seconds especially when you are trying to answer a call or it gets in the way when you are in the middle of doing something and the CPU is already bogged down, it also makes a mess of my desktop/home screen icons when it rotates to portrait.
