I miss my n950 and wish I could go back to using it. But after a colleague of mine dropped it, the LCD started to leak and the phone became unusable.

Is there anything I can do to bring this amazing device back to life?

Unfortunately it is impossible to get spare for LCD of N950 as they were unique only to this device, unless buying another device.

Sorry, just sorry.
Is your colleague well again?

Not sure if it's behind the mechanical parts. Definitely looks like a leakage as the initial black lines have turned to a big circular black blob that sits in the middle of the screen.

I looked at that link but i wasnt sure what to do with it. Did you manage to find replacement screens?

"What can i do with my n950?"

REALLY?

well...

I have a few good ideas ...

but most of them revolve around putting postage on it and sending it to me!

That doesn't matter. I believe endsormeans can still open it and unplug the wires/FPC and unmount some chips then plug in to some N810 or N800 see if it works? That's just one of it.

Hmm... Well if it still turns on, can you output to a monitor and use it as a computer with the added bonus you can make phone calls?
In addition, you could then load Easy Debian which works on N9/N950 if you want full feature linux distribution running.

Another possibility? Even though a little smaller, could you replace the screen with one from N9?

Yes, of course that is doable too. Only without checking the schematics I cannot offhand say what else is needed; at least the display driver is different so you will need some SMD soldering skills

It is also highly likely that's not enough; probably you'll need to build an adapter on a daughterboard which needs to fit inside the device enclosure.
I could probably do it as I have the skills and access to proper tools, but this is not something uninitiates should attempt as their first project
