Hi all,

Here is my first attempt to package the latest version of BitchX :

BitchX :

BitchX is an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client by Colten Edwards aka panasync@efnet. BitchX was originally based on ircII 2.8, but is currently based on the ircii-EPIC4 releases by Jeremy Nelson.

Overview :

BitchX was originally started as a script by Trench and HappyCrappy for the popular UNIX IRC client ircII. Around Christmas of 1994 the script was patched directly into the client by panasync.

Now in 2012 we are looking to revive the development of the client by merging it back to the current release of Epic and cleaning some of the features that are no longer needed or supported and moving on with the building of a whole new client. 18 years of BitchX and we're not nearly done yet.

The new client will be based upon the final release of EPIC4 and will exclude a great number of the old features such as support for OS/2 and GTK which was very old and bloated plus there were problems with the gtk client causing quite a hit to the CPU. The upside is that the client will be pulled back into a sane code base. Less bloat and overhead is always good for you the user.

Download packages from extra-devel :

Activate all repositories following this tutorial : Repositories Activation

Then, as usual, as root, install with :

Usage: BitchX [switches] [nickname] [server list] 
  The [nickname] can be at most 15 characters long
  The [server list] is a whitespace separate list of server name
  The [switches] may be any or all of the following
   -H <hostname>	uses the virtual hostname if possible
   -N do not auto-connect to the first server
   -A do not display the startup ansi
   -c <channel>	joins <channel> on startup. don't forget to escape the # using \
   -b		load .bitchxrc  or .ircrc after connecting to a server
   -p <port>	default server connection port (usually 6667)
   -f		your terminal uses flow controls (^S/^Q), so BitchX shouldn't
   -F		your terminal doesn't use flow control (default)
   -d		runs BitchX in "dumb" terminal mode
   -q		does not load ~/.ircrc
   -r file	load file as list of servers
   -n nickname	nickname to use
   -a		adds default servers and command line servers to server list
   -x		runs BitchX in "debug" mode
   -Z		use NAT address when doing dcc.
   -P		toggle check pid.nickname for running program.
   -v		tells you about the client's version
   -s		servers specified are SSL.
   -i		ignores the autojoin list entries.
   -l <file>	loads <file> in place of your .ircrc
   -L <file>	loads <file> in place of your .ircrc and expands $ expandos
   -B		force BitchX to fork and return you to shell. pid check on.

After successful installation, just use it !!!
