Could we get a sticky please?

Id like us to create a post with minimal commenting, and try and list good sites that format well for the N800. Also, if you have a site (news reader, useful tool, something you use a lot) that many people might not know about, list it here. Put a description next to each link if appropriate. This is an effort to find faster versions of sites we love, and discover sites we never new existed

Updated list:

Mowser mobile site converter: (submitted by efb)

http://mowser.com/

thanks efb! this site works great, handles sites like Engadget very well. still retain graphics on converted sites, removes the flash. thanks!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Engadget Lite (super lite)

http://mowser.com/web?url=engadget.com

if you compare the normal engadget to this, this wins hands down. you can scream through this site. it will make you resent the flash enabled site. now, can we find an even better version?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

DI Fm mobile:

http://www.di.fm/mobile/?type=mp3

link goes straight to a text only version of DI.fm. loads no flash, very fast.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Google Maps html

http://maps.google.com/?output=html

great site if your browsing local business, trying to find a restraunt. works well, very fast.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Digg.com for iPhone (only works with MicroB)

http://www.digg.com/iphone

really great for full screen n800. works well enough.

requests:
engadget lite (looking for the best formatted one possible!)
gizmodo lite (same thing)

The only hangups I have about such a post is: to be honest I never had any problems visiting any site on the N800. The N800 does not need The Web for Internet Tablets(TM)... for me, any web site (within reasonable limits...) "just works" on the N800. Maybe it's just me...

If only all the websites could be loaded properly on a 800x480 screen...

Which browsers in N800 allow reading feeds directly in its window? I never tried it on Opera on N800.

I use mowser to display clean versions of websites using their feeds on my N800(only when they can't be displayed properly in the browser):

It may be hard to believe but it is a life-saver for me with many websites.

I agree with convulted but can imagine situations where one would like to use a simpler, more touch friendly interface.
Here are links to well-organized resources intended for another device but generally work fine for the n800:

Similar to what efb noted, here is Google's answer to mobilizing (so to speak) a website. Is a nice fluid option for GPRS and similar bandwidth connections, as I used it a fair amount in the past on my BB. Strips out the pics, gives you the useful content. I've posted it elsewhere in the past, but for the sake of a collection, here it is again:

http://www.google.com/gwt/n

Maybe it will help somebody. As for dedicated sites, there are plenty that auto-detect browsers, and yet others can be readily located by adding /mobile to the end of a url. Obviously YMMV with that, but it's a good starting point on the fly.
