You mean, like a certain other company that seems to be the current favourite here?

Mind you, I am not against closed source per se like some around here seem to be. To me, the two most important factors are functionality and trust. Does the code perform its function? Does it perform it well? I have to say that commercial software generally wins in this area, especially in the consumer application domain. Most open-source applications suck big time. Not so much the low-level stuff where the score is closer to 50/50. Perhaps even 51/49 in favour of open source.

Regarding the trust, the availability of the source code is a factor but not the only one and not even the biggest one. We have all heard the many eyes argument but we (should) also realize that it is a fallacy.

Well, Jolla is not in Ruoholahti anymore. There are plenty other tech firms in Ruoholahti, though.

No surprise. Though it doesn't mean anything. Tizen is, too, based on Linux. But it's no proper Linux for a smartphone that we want here

170 R&D staff in Feb 2016 apparently according to http://www.digitoday.fi/mobiili/2016...en/20162123/66

And they were advertising job positions for porting Chromium with experience in AOSP, FirefoxOS and Tizen.

Yes, I know. I was helping them to move. And now they have moved again from Frederikinkatu to Bulevardi.
And one of those tech firms there is one where I am working

reminds me about the time Nokia claimed the advert was done with one of their phones, when you could see a reflection of a dslr in some of the shots.
