1). Bring the baseline apps inline with the competitor's offerings: [b]email[b](!), calendar, contacts, RSS.
2). More plugins for the messaging app (yahoo messenger!)
3). License BB Connect for Maemo

I would really love to see all these great brainstorm-level improvements to see day light as a official update.

-Portrait mode throughout
-Upgraded Ovi Maps
-Refresh/more functionality and beautification to the Calender and media player.
-Compatibility with Ovi or PC Suite
-Ability to customize or some sort of organization to the apps in the menu
-Email bugs
-Please improve the phone functionality

I know all of this is not likely, but it would be nice.

I want an original FM radio application, because the one available now even though its good, but it has many many annoying bugs

Also USSD

Also Portrait

Also (go back to menu after exiting programs)

Also Handwriting recognition

Also FREE NAVIGATION like other nokia brands

Also MORE GAMES

Also way better email client because the one in the N900 sucks and slow (but you can always use the Awesome Web browser to check your emails)

THE PROBLEM IS.....its ALL possible
But i feel like nokia doesnt want to do it

The n900 is Awesome....it just needs the support

Flash 10.1
MicroB upgraded to new gecko engine
portrait mode
a way to select which repository to upgrade an app from (so I can use things in devel without screwing up all my apps)
make proxies work for everything so I'm not restricted to web, email, and app upgrades when on my corporate network.

RevdKathy hits the point. Calendar is missing crucial features:
  • adjustable start/end time for day view (show only working hours, for example), how needs entries at 3 in the morning..?
  • no search, makes calendar quite useless to locate certain events
  • smart birthday doesn not show age, why?. Doesn't sync with Outlook or other PIM?

Even more important is email search. It is practically impossible to locate an email if one cannot remember exact date and/or sender.

Email notification for new emails should be in account level also. It's frustrating to open each account to see if the new emails are there..

More configurable settings in applications. Good example is photo viewer, I'd like to select the default folder it shows and also N900 should remember it. I also don't want to see mp3 covers in photo view either..

Maps got better with PR 1.1, but are still far from being even close to Maps in other N-series phones:
- no user POI's (would help route settings etc.)
- search requires connection, why?
- UI still clumsy (who invented the "default" Paris/New York etc. search results in search view. Should show 4 last user searches instead)

Browser
- cannot reorder bookmarks
- text reflow setting (ctrl-Shift-I) does not survive beyond browser session

I also vote for portait SMS with virtual keyboard.

Java would be nice.

A way to connect standard USB devices such as pen drives, printers, keyboards, monitors, any USB device, through the micro USB port would increase the awesomeness that is the N900.

USB devices are two a penny and are much more secure than BT.
