I believe that UHS was not available when the N900 came out last year. And as this is probably not something that can be easily achieved (if at all) with software, I wouldn't keep my hopes up.
I'm not that knowledgeable though, this is just guesswork.

I don't think they would be compatible, on the other hand, UHS-I can accept older SDHC format. http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/speed_class
just checked the FAQs and googled and could not find an answer to the question if Nokia N900 does support
SDHC UHS-I cards?
