it would make sense if you could use them at the same time so i could use my german one and my polish one.that would be great.

We can't connect to two operators or even a single operator with dual sims active(registered) simultaneously. You would need two radios for that. N900 has only 1. But switchable dual sim is useful since some operators have great mobile broadband packages which only have data service. With such a device we could get the benefit of this service without having to reboot the phone everytime.
