But like DW mentioned on your forum, a Friday would be alright, tends to be quieter then anyway, for my commute anyway.
Having remembered why it's Eid around that time, I would only be available to go on or after that date.

If you want the same features as Rockbox on an Android app then you are probably out of luck. Last time I checked Rockbox was still the most versatile audio player around. I love some of its advanced bookmarking, scripting and voice control features.

VLC does seem to have independent pitch and speed control (see https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comme...peed_controls/) but I am pretty sure you will not have the same experience if you have been used to Rockbox.

Some Chinese guys patched Rockbox and seemed to work on newer versions of Android. https://github.com/Rockbox-Chinese-C...ty/Rockbox-RCC

With VLC Player you can change the speed
I don't know about the Rockbox Android application, which never took off and was never a good idea in the first place, but Rockbox as in the custom firmware for loads of mp3 players is an incredible piece of software that lets you do anything and everything. (It even runs Doom on mp3 players with a monochrome 64x64 LED screen.)

You don't need root to have adblockers on Android....

If you're using Fennec/Firefox, then ok. But using VPNs to block ads is a nightmare.

LineageOS has su as a flashable zip.

Btw. Android without root is a nightmare. You can't mount LUKS volumes, manage SELinux, backup application data via adb... (it's hard to even export sms without uploding them to someone else's server)

It's a long trip to London but I'm interested - I'll need at least a week's notice of the date and have to hope I can get the day off work, assuming it's not going to be a Sunday.

What do you mean with nightmare???
I'm using AdGuard, it's the best there is. Never had ANY ads, not even inside other apps.
