I think the confusion is coming (unintentionally) from chainreaction. His comments would lead you toward a replacement cable with greater length.

Go with Penguinbait's last post for the clearest, easiest solution, and one you could use for other purposes should the need arise.

I called this store in Houston. they carry the RCA coupler

Part # 274-898 $5.99

Then you just need the standard RCA cable which they also carry for about 10$ for 6 feet.

And I suggest you should not pay overprice for those "extra high quality" cables. If you buy extra long cables (more than 10 meters) then it MIGHT make some difference. Remember that longer the cable you buy the more noise you will get in the audio and video signal. Just get the necessary length you really require.

Just by searching "RCA cable" and "RCA adapter" in amazon.com it seems that the cable and an adapter can be obtained for five dollars or so.
