Works well for me too. It would be ideal to strem personal Telegram messages into the device's own messages service, but I'm fine with Pidgin.
Sometimes I just use my N900 while I have my Priv as well, and in so many aspects, Android is just so dumb compared to Maemo.
Text input in the other hand, has came a long way.

Anyway, thank you for doing your part in keeping this fantastic device alive.

Thanks Halftux. Still using your latest version from the repo (still working fine) but some improved security is always nice.
What is the preferred method to update openssl? Doesn't seem to be available in the repo but I have noticed the Python package on openrepos includes it. Should I install that one then? https://openrepos.net/content/halftux/python35
Any chance something else breaks?

Do not install python35 it is not for production. Also new openssl could have some side effects. But for openssl you need to activate cssu devel repo as long as you installing it. After that you should disable it.

See here:

https://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=100818

But I could also uploading it to maemo extras-devel and let it build against old openssl.

Hi! Thanks for building it in the first place, but this segfaults instantly after installing

May i provide more logs to help and eventually debug it?

Uploaded another version it seems that something went wrong when optimizing the package. I think the plugin path was wrong, fixed this. Please try again. Deleted the other packages.

I downloaded it from openrepos, dpkg -i it and atleast for now everything seems to work (sent a message and image) and it seems it is a bit faster. What are the differences, I mean is there something I should do in settings? I have just installed and used and never done any extra settings for privacy.

Thx for trying. I don't know how to use it, I compiled it as a service for users here. Thats why I need feedback to solve errors.

In principle compared to the version in the repos this has changed (short list):

Better forward handling with media
Better coverage for own message handling
More translations
In general tgl updates

You can see all code changes in the original repository commits, all after march 2019.
https://github.com/majn/telegram-purple/commits/master

If somebody wants to compile it just take the debian folder from the repository. Delete one patch and change the makefile patch.
