Having gone to the maemo.org website and then read some of the posts here, I have a question about which program to download for my new N800 for instant messaging. From the main maemo website, the only downloadable program listed is GAIM, which actually only lists OS 2006. Does it work with OS 2007? The Pidgin description on that webpage does not have an install link, so I figured that it wasn't yet available. Then on this forum today I found the link to a downloadable Pidgin (https://garage.maemo.org/projects/gaim/). Is the Pidgin program finished/stable? Which should I download? Thanks.

Gaim works fine, thats what I'm using. I haven't experimented with pidgin, so i can't comment on it. AnD to download some apps you only add the repository to the application catalogue.

Pidgin is the latest release of gaim following the AOL lawsuit that caused them to change their name.

Pidgin is probably the best option moving forwards.

It's good to see pidgen in development at maemo. Can I assume from the file name that this is our good friend NixNix?
