Hi guys.

Before you berate me for starting this topic, I did do a search and found nothing to help me on this issue.

Anyway the problem I'm having here is that I cannot add my Outlook email account to my phone. Simple as that. I'm surprised there was no Outlook provider to begin with. Everything else is there... except Outlook.

I've tried using Hotmail and MfE as providers but to no avail. Can you guys show me step by step how you got Outlook email to work on your phones?

Many thanks,
TK

Ach no one will berate you...maybe have a good chuckle...but no berating...

Hmm...good question...
Considering M$ changed their hotmail format just recently... I haven't messed much with my n900 and mail service...
The standard outdated hotmail is what the n900 is set up for...
Lately when I want to check my mail I simply use the mobile view on the msn website.
I used to have notifications with the old hotmail...
But as far as setting up notifications with the new Outlook format ...hmm
I could be wrong but...I don't believe any windoze users here have done any magic to get the new Outlook to work with the n900...

good question...

When you say Outlook, you mean Outlook.com?
N900 supports 'everything' outlook (software) supports. If the mailbox can be opened using IMAP or POP3, add it manually.

As indicated on my Wiki edit, Outlook.com should be added as an Activesync account, so you can add the mailbox via Mail for Exchange, in Settings/Connectivity. Contacts and Calendar sync also work flawlessly. It seems that different emails use different server names, but for me, s.outlook.com, port 443 works just fine.

Hope this helps.

Yeah I meant the outlook.com email. I've tried adding them in manually but to no avail. I think this might be the end of the road for me and the N900.

On MfE settings screens:
Email address: your full email
Username: full email again
Domain: leave empty
Server: s.outlook.com
port: 443
secure connection: check this

Show us screenshot of what you get after adding the settings above.

Pleasure.
I still find the N900 is not ready to die/give up yet
