Hi,

I just have Maemo Mapper installed and tried the route download, up to now, there is no success.

If I use http://gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi, I got "Failed to connect to GPX Directions Server". If I use http://gnuite.com:8080/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi, I got "Invalid source or destination" (I just use Toronto, Ontario as both source and destination).

Can someone show me how to make use of the Download Route feature in Maemo Mapper? TIA

Kenny

The "Source URL" should be set to the following (which is the default):

Code:
http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi?saddr=%s&daddr=%s
There need to be "%s" bits in the "URL" for it to work - those are the keys that Maemo Mapper replaces with your source and destination.

gunite,

Thanks for your reply, will try that later as I don't have the 770 on hand right now.

gnuite,

I tried both http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi?saddr=%s&daddr=%s and http://www.gnuite.com:8080/cgi-bin/g...dr=%s&daddr=%s and got the same result that "Failed to connect to GPX Directions server", any hints?

would that be some kind of corruption during my installation as I upgrade the Mapper from 1.3.5 to 1.4.7

It should not be the upgrade that causing the problem. I followed instructions that I found in gnuite's another post to uninstall 1.4.7 and remove the directory to reset the first install bit. Then I put in back all the information, eg. map repositories, etc and still got the same "failed to connect to GPX Directions server"

Kenny

Hi,

Same problem here, and I can't ping gnuite.com

Code:
orgoz % ping google.fr && ping gnuite.com
PING google.fr (72.14.221.104) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from fg-in-f104.google.com (72.14.221.104): icmp_seq=1 ttl=242 time=504 ms

64 bytes from fg-in-f104.google.com (72.14.221.104): icmp_seq=3 ttl=242 time=203 ms

--- google.fr ping statistics ---

rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 203.428/358.646/504.935/123.253 ms

PING gnuite.com (192.168.1.2) 56(84) bytes of data.

It seems that there is DNS issue for gnuite.com because the IP is 192.168.1.2

BTW, if we can get gpx.cgi, we may be able to setup own server

Is it possible to find other "GPX directions server"? Or it's only one on gnuite.com?

after flashing the update to the n800 os i'm experiencing the same problem with the connection to the gpx server. maemo mapper worked fine before but now, while it can download all sorts of maps, it can't plot a route. looking at the url for the server shows the address is the one written above. don't have a proxy server of any sort. must be a simple answer as there appear to be only a few people with the problem.
