Hello everyone,

I am trying to get X11Fowarding working over ssh and its seems that the N900 does not have a binary for xauth. I am not sure what package I need to install to gain this. If anyone could please let me know if there is a way (w/o building it myself) this would be of great use. If I have to build it myself I'll probably give that a go. I am not a developer, just an avid linux user.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

hey yeah i would love that to

i just tryed the X11 forward and all putty gives me is this

Requesting X11 forwarding
Remote debug message: No xauth program; cannot forward with spoofing.
forwarding refused

if somebody could compile it and package it to a deb i could write sms messages from my desktop

Try this deb file. You'll need to install libxmuu1 using apt-get first though, but that should be in the standard repositories.

okay so the setup i have currently is xming with insecure x-forward and use PUTTY with X11 forward

then i ssh into the N900 and export DISPLAY=<xmingip>:0.0

and then i try to run different commands like osse-xterm

but my goal is to get the conversations running on my windows machine

I have a feeling most apps will not work very well as they are built firstly for the Maemo graphic toolkit, and secondly for the screen layout and resolution. At very least you'll have odd display over X, and at most I would say things won't run at all. I think a lot of the apps are expecting a local only display (perhaps via non-standard graphics calls) and so won't actually forward over X.
