Hi,

Let me open this thread, because I feel the community has gone different situations (search) and it's important to stay united and most important active on this maemo/meego/mer/etc projects ...

So for the first step It's important to identify where are those n950 now.

At the same time I am making a small survey , to see how do you use your n950 and then I'll update this post once the results are significative ...

Please, keep friendly and dont request anything for anyone, let's do this in full transparency and let's hope if something have to be done this will be done through a consensual process.

More to come later ...

* deserver : of course you should not have one , if you have a n9 and no use for a n950 then it would nice to report it too ..

If your status changed then please reply to this list...

list update :

* Zogg : contributor (changed from deserver )

I'd like to see myself as contributor, but as my time is limited and I usually pick tasks with questionable outcome (for example I spent some days trying to make inkscape work on maemo 5 but failed miserably) I don't know if it's the right thing to pick. Mostly I do things I may find fun and not things that will necessarily be appreciated, but as I value the input of this community, I always try to come public with whatever I achieve/not-achieve.

I have an N950.

I do a lot of testing of apps, for instance I was one of the original 3 wazapp testers, a tester for Scturman's quicktweak app, a tester for inception, as well as the first one to test the opptimizer kernel and ui.

I'm currenty busy testing different mods to increase battery life and usability.

I got one, developed a bit of stuff, but then I got two N9s that I use pretty much exclusively and my N950 stays in its box unless I need to demo anything.

Anyway, in January, when a defect occurred with the screen and I had to send it back to Nokia, I asked qgil if the repaired/replaced device could go to someone else ("next deserving on the device programme"), and he said it was a good idea and that he'd supply details to DDP when it arrived back to them and they contacted him. I alerted DDP that I was sending it back to them with a defect, but could they send the replacement to someone else, asking qgil. They said yes, send it. I sent it with a clear post-it note attached as to what I had arranged. The replacement came straight back to me, and I assume noone spoke to qgil.
You can't say I didn't try.

Also, there's already an n950club here:

Does having an identi.ca one have any advantages?

I wish I applied

EDIT: Even some two sh scripts I wrote for the N9(50) failed me, I still don't get how Aegis works, and what Openmode/Developer mode is. (Probably will never, not into the idea of spending a lot more on an N9 than, a Galaxy Nexus for instance.)

Please hold before sending anything , if we do this too fast we will or we could face the same issue that just happened lately ...

I have nothing against itsnotabigtruck he knows it , but we should try to enhance the transparency and democracy of any decision ...

so let's keep on the 1st step , identification of existing n950 ...

does this sound safe ?

Yeah but according to my agreement, I'm not allowed to give it away - it's still "on loan".
I wouldn't mind paying for shipping if I can authorise passing it on (or re-loaning) through qgil/DDP.

As to who would get it, I see four options:
1. Hand over to qgil to give it to the "next best" person from the original device programme that I got it from
2. Add it to the pool for the current device programme
3. Chuck it directly at e-yes because he appears to have been shafted by the current programme, and I like NITdroid
4. Whoever wins at some challenge I cook up myself, if I'm feeling evil

(also, I'd like to keep it until after PR1.3 appears just in case Nokia do the release-new-firmware-to-N950-first game that they did before)

Anyway, all this depends on me being allowed to give the device away - I'll get in touch with qgil.

Option 5 - send to abill/lumiaman for servcies to trolling
