Thanks Joerg_rw

I'm eager to see the new concept, and especially - for ability to use external power sources for the my power hungry N900 + add ons

You are right, will use udev, for my case :P), as you suggestion

Best regards

Hi,

when I insert a USB/UART converter, it is recognized (dmesg) but ttyUSB0 is not created.

Any Idea?

If your device do not use generic usb to serial driver , it will probably do not work, it's not h-e-n fault!
You do not have needed module for your device
For me ONLY FTDI chip is working.

For reference see attached file , commented # drivers are not included in present kernel-power 46.

For future problems with that post here, there is special place for that!
If you post there your dmesg log I can try to help.

Regards

Is there a possibility to download the patched sources that were used for this power-kernel? In that case I can build the module myself.

For kernel-power's source use apt-get source kernel-power, kernel-power-source is just a modified package so other packages can depend on it when they're built.

Though I gave proof of my lack of detailed knowledge about kernel building above, I dare to suspect you don't need to build a whole kernel just to get an additional module compiled. Probably even the kernel-headers should suffice for this task

No, it's not your fault actually.
kernel-power's source should build the kernel-power-source package, but doesn't (titan scrapped it for some reason), and that prevented me from sending apps that need compiled modules, so I had to fork the kernel-power-source package separately and update it with each update of kp.

So, yeah, it's not your fault
