So, I recently came into a stash of 8 Nokia N810 wifi units. I reflashed one with Diablo and got it set up running off a microSD for myself. I really don't need the other 7. They all work, and all are in decent shape with working batteries. What would a decent asking price be if I were to sell them all as a lot?

as a lot?
if you check out ebay...you will get all kinds of prices across the board...for one.
sometimes they may sell for a $100+
sometimes someone may have one for sale for 30-50 bucks...
or as auction starting much less...

It is debatable as to whether or not you will get a high asking price...
It depends on the available supply for them on ebay at the time...
as much as whether there are people who are hunting for a n810 at the time you are selling ...and willing to pay what you wish to get.

Also selling so many as a lot...
odds are it may take a while to find someone who wishes so many ...

Also...as a lot...to make it enticing to buy...you may have to lower the total price for the lot ...just to make it more appealing.

Selling individually ...
they would sell more rapidly...
you would get a fair price...
and you could undercut the lowest going price on ebay and sell them thus.
Or wait until few or no one has any for sale on ebay...wait for a lull ...
then sell them for what you would like.

If you wish to just make your money back ...and perhaps a little extra...
I would suggest you flog them here...
here is where folks come ...
and there are plenty who would consider one.
If I had none...and wanted one..
Just the device...no batt or charger or anything...
I would happily fork out $30 and shipping.
With charger, battery etc...$50 and shipping.
It is a decent price...without gouging...and enough lure to sell them ..
more than $50 a unit with batt and charger and shipping and I think many would hesitate to spend more.
5-7 years ago you could have asked $100 a unit...
Now ...until they become a rarity ..(and at which point there many other issues such as software that functions...etc...) ...I doubt they will command a high price....or that many would pay it.

That is my view though...having been around the block...
also...for myself...
I already have a few ...so I don't need extras.

I do suggest you keep at least one or two as back ups...
just in case...
and sell the remainder...
that also...is just my thoughts on the matter.

I just bumped into one online and would have got it for 20eur. Didn't buy cause already have one and haven't even got that put on use yet. I have bought N900s when I get them about 20eur so that when there are people on this forum who still use them and need them I have been able to forward them with this low price plus postage. In my opinion N810 is less than N900 when it comes as a daily friend (maybe it changes when I have followed endsormeans instructions to make it fly). So if you got them cheap and just want to forward them to right users I think this is the right place and price for 1 would be maybe 25eur plus postage and as a lot 140eur plus postage. Hope there is someone who would buy them not to benefit financially but to support community. That is not to say you or anyone else doesn't have right to benefit financially. Just personal mindset of mine with these machines and their supporters.

yes indeed it is a matter of personal opinion as to the value of an n800 to an n810 or n900...
I have and do use all 3.
Have for years.
And I know that when it comes right down to it...
sure I use my n900s..they are great...
But they don't have a place in my heart like the n8x0's.
Anyone who has spent time with the n8x0 line knows what I mean..
and that feeling doesn't wane with the passage of years...

As far as a professional opinion goes..
if one were to put value on the nxx0s as to what they are worth...
well..
When the last n900 breaks down..sad day it will be...and that day will come when there are none left functioning...
Sooner than many think too...
But..
the n8x0s will still be running...and running and running...
their build quality is superb ...with virtually no physical fault built in.
And I expect there will be a possible resurgence in use and devel and maintenance .. in the n8x0 line then..
There is most certainly value in the "last devices standing" .

I have always seen selling "job lots" as a sign of laziness.
A hugely counter-productive laziness.
You can do as endso said, sell individually. In an auction. With the right starting price (I suggest £/$/€0.99), it will sell like hot cakes.
Or you can try a "job lot" for a fixed price and never sell.
Your choice.

I definitely love the hardware. Nothing else feels like an N810 in the hand, and as far as I know, nobody builds anything like it any more. Every once in a while I come across one, but I'm in America and I imagine they are much less common here than in Europe. This lot had a couple of retail boxes that were marked as being UK retail units.

I've never shipped internationally before. I can list them on eBay, and honestly I don't care whether I sell them separately or together. I just know that I don't need them all and with a baby on the way, I need both space and money more than a tower of N810 units.

agreed.
there is nothing like the build....nor the enjoyment of using them.
nothing comes close.

so.
I would suggest posting your selling said units ...in the buy and sell section of the forum here.
Make a new thread in it.
post the fact you are selling ~number of units.
what comes with them.
Starting bid or buy it now price
and a link in the post to the ebay auction / sale

give the thread an update every now and then...give it a "bump"...
to keep it in the frontal lobe of those who come here...
and an update on how many are left...now and then..
and any change in prices.
and that is about it...

Thanks for the advice all. Maybe I will keep one unit or two as a backup. I currently use mine for gpodder. I'm trying to learn more as I go. Is it possible to mount protected Windows shares with the N810 after following the Pimp My N810 guide? I can see my share, but it never allows me to enter a username/pw, and shows 0 files.

I used to do such with xp ...
I am sure it is possible with 7
most likely not with 10

but that was years ago...
i can't for the life of me remember now...the procedure..

There must be conversation on it here though...that will steer you right
