anybody into 3D printing?, would not be hard to make a case like N900 to fit and android phone without battery, but battery in base and speakers etc

i am looking into it, but after i saw the cosmo communicator i am more going after that because specs and linux, anybody here getting one? also in normal linux a "maemo" DE would be possible

Have considered the cosmo ...
But believe in waiting for devices to prove themselves functional for the end user first....
I want to see a good year or more of feedback from owners concerning how well it works, how good support is, how good company warranty is, how good...etc.
EVER EVER EVER before I start throwing money after promises again.

"also in normal linux a "maemo" DE would be possible"
There is Leste ..for VM...
But that is a different kettle of iguanas ..

Frankly I think a separate thread under Desktop Environs or under Alt
is a good place to start this.

I am completely behind a Maemo DE for Linux.
Esp. considering I spend most of my time on my toshiba m780's ....highly linux compat. ...runs very nicely any variant I have thrown at it......(m780 are convertible tablet laptop with touch and pen.
Makes for an ideal candidate.)

(as a matter of interest there is the very old maemo knoppix linux which had a layout that is maemo retro from back in the early years of the 770 and n800...it would be interesting if dissecting and drawing off it were possible)

well if the cosmo is good then i think the maemo.org would be a good place to have a thread on DE development, if i want to make a custom NICE keyboard i need a resin printer, this is not on the menu right now (even as they are getting very cheap), i have to focus on my main stuff for now as i started patreon

But im still up for making a 3D printed case for a very hackeble android phone, but for now that is a 2020 project

Why not do a collaboration with Necuno Solutions? They are already doing a collaboration with Maemo Leste (https://necunos.com/blog/necuno-solu...collaboration/) and Nemo Mobile (https://necunos.com/blog/necuno-solu...collaboration/) so they could probably help creating the Neo900!
Otherwise there are other open smartphone manufacturers that may be interested like Jolla, Planet Computers, Turing Phone and Purism.

Ok. Maybe I should be more clear: What _we_ have to do to make Neo900 prototype that works? What would be next step to continue the all that work what has done?

But my question is not how to fund that what we have to do. My question is what _we_ have to do?

Hahaha
ah pichlo...
No game of Throne reference implied...
Literally just finished watching the last episode in the series..
(not sure what to think right now)

@ kinggo
Add to that billion euro donation (whoever that fool is...) ..
about a decade of continued waiting coupled with the uncertainty it will still ever be released ...and I think we are close to the truth of it.

@ teroyk
I admire your tenacity ...
however...like all endeavours ...there are moments where key decisions make, stall or break..an endeavour...
The neo900 had its share of all 3 ...
making, stalling, and breaking...
to the point it became impossible to accomplish.
To the point where every additional setback made it even more unattractive for speculators, supporters, investors and lenders...
The only folks who would conceive of throwing money at it right now...
Would be those who need something to throw money at for their own tax break purposes.

As I said..I admire your tenacity...
But you are years too late with it...
and what you are doing now is :
-Asking if the doctor can still save the patient as the casket is being lowered into the ground...
-Questioning at the end of the latest Star Wars film if Darth really is Luke's father...
-Beating the cremated ashes of the neo900 dead horse .

you are a little late to the party on this one..

nothing really. Neo900 should have been a new MB for N900 housing. And based on TI SoC. Sadly, TI is long gone from mobile SoC scene, just like ST Ericsson. And most N900 are also long gone.
