I would like to try Mer. the installation looks easy to me:
1. Make a partition for Mer.
2. modify bootmenu.d
3. untar 'rootfs tar.gz for Nokia N8x0 port' into the Mer partition
4. reboot, go to the Mer item.
is there any problems with this?
thanks

8G internal card has 512M dos + 3.0G ext2 for clone os + 3.5G ext2 for easy Debian (just file system, easy-deb-chroot uninstalled) + >512 swap.

with the help of others and my effort to google internet, I solved some confusions. this is my experience.

Looks correct, but you could also use an installer.

There's an installation guide in wiki:

I had read the Instructions. i do not like to install extras in Maemo OS.
but someone said other bootmenu will not work with Mer bootloader. another thing is Untar will not scan SWAP automatically. just wonder if i can modify some file to turn it on.
