Yes, this is one of those sad but true points.
As long as default still supplies an alternative,
it is a sufferable issue.

In that case you should have da buttons along the long edge of the slab.

I mean, when you compare the positions how you handle the device, which is the default case, portrait or landscape? I use portrait really only when making calls and how much do you need those buttons then?

No. Why? Even when using a 10" tablet (Z2) in landscape most of the time I'm holding it with left hand and use the right one all over the screen to do something. If I can use quck topic links on this site then I can use the buttons on the right side. I did have tablet like that before and it was never a problem.

Might suit you, but I don't feel that's very intuitive.

Different strokes for different folks, but why wouldn't you want the buttons to be easily reachable when using a device in landscape mode? When holding a phone (or tablet, for that matter) in landscape your right hand is hovering over the buttons. It is arguably easier to use those buttons when in landscape than it is in portrait mode.

So, what happens when you hold it so that the buttons are on the left side?

No, seriously; Might be left-handed, or do it just for laughs.
In any case what happens is the buttons are now in reversed order which probably is a pain anyway.

And what about holding it in portrait mode 180 degrees rotated? Does it make sense tho have dem nibblies on the top of the device??

Seriously, those buttons are just so vestigal, just get rid of 'em!
